The Community Relations Committee (CRC) serves as the advocacy arm of the Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando, representing the organized Central Florida Jewish community.
CRC is dedicated to improving the welfare, security and vitality of the Jewish people— both locally, in Israel and throughout the world.
Goals
Advocate for a just society based on Jewish values in order to protect the rights of Jews and non-Jews alike.
Advocate for Jews around the world and at home to safeguard their rights through protecting, preserving and promoting a just American society that is democratic and pluralistic by:
Providing a non-partisan approach informed by Jewish values
Offering counsel to and a voice for victims of anti-Semitism and other injustice
Engage in dialogue with public school systems about the proper limits of religious expression in public schools and the need to respect the exercise of religion by minority, non-Christian religions
Advocate for Israel by offering and supporting educational programming and community activities; as well as by submitting media releases, letters and columns to important news and resource outlets to offer important opinions on important Israel-related issues.
Community Outreach programs include Israel Independence Day (Yom Ha’atzmaut) and Holocaust Day of Remembrance (HaZikaron)
Our Rapid Response Team regularly submits letters and columns to area newspapers to ensure that the public receives a fair, accurate and positive portrayal of Israel in her quest for peace and security
Our Media Relations team engages print, TV, and radio outlets for the same purpose and to be available to respond to media requests on "hot button" issues
Strategies
CRC’s path to success is greatly impacted by our ability to build relationships with a broad spectrum of religious and ethnic groups, as well as the public, nonprofit and private sectors within the Greater Orlando community and engage with them on issues of mutual concern. Through these relationships we work to:
• End anti-Semitism and the hatred which stems from religious intolerance and ignorance
• Engage federal, state and local governmental leadership in an ongoing dialogue to strengthen the security and collaboration of our community
• Be the "common table" at which all the members of the Jewish community sit to achieve these common goals
