Maximize the success of your event publicity and attendance! Submit your events to the Jewish Community Web site of Greater Orlando’s COMMUNITY CALENDAR.
POSTING EVENTS:
1. How do I submit my event to the Community Calendar?
You don’t need to be a web expert – all you need to do is follow these 3 easy steps:
2. How do I use the “category” section of the “Suggest an Event” form?
By holding down the “SHIFT” button on your keyboard, scroll down the list of categories and click on those categories that are relevant to your event. For e.g. If the Orlando JCC was running a Tu B’shvat program for young adults – you would click on the following: JCC, Young Adults, Family.
3. Why is it important to select categories for my event?
By selecting multiple categories you will enable visitors to the site to search for and find events specific to their needs or interests. For e.g. A 25 year old who comes to the site and selects Young Adults and JCC in the searchable box of the Calendar and clicks on the GO button will then see all events for Young Adults & JCC.
4. Why are some of the fields in the “Suggest an Event” form yellow?
You will see that there are two fields in the form for contact information. Anything entered in the “Contact Info” box on the form will appear on the Web site. The yellow fields which request “first name”; “last name” and “email” are for the person who is POSTING the event. This information does NOT appear on online when the submission is approved. This info is important to fill out so that if there is any problem with your submission – for e.g. if it conflicts with another major event – a representative from Jewish Federation will be able to get in touch with you.
5. What is characterized as a “recurring event”?
It has been noticed that there is considerable confusion about “recurring events”. Note that gala’s that are held every year are not recurring events according to the calendar. They must be entered separately.
Recurring events are those that can be listed as every day for a period of time or every Wednesday at the same time or the first Sunday of every month (if everything else remains the same). Every other week does not work.
Events taking place on multiple, contiguous days may be posted by using the first date and end date on the sheet. Once again the other information must be the same.
No. After you have submitted your event, your submission will be reviewed by a representative of the Jewish Federation. Unless it is deemed inappropriate for publication, it will then be published live on the Community Calendar. The process usually takes 2-3 work days.
