Director of Young Leadership Development and Community Relations

The Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando is seeking a dynamic and engaging Director of Young Leadership Development and Community Relations to join its committed team. Depending on the candidate's experience and other qualifications, this position may be part-time or full-time.

 

The ideal candidate is a creative and motivated self-starter and a team player who possesses the following qualifications:

  • Good knowledge and understanding of the organized Jewish community, Jewish customs and traditions;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; 
  • Event planning experience;
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, ability to multitask;
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through; 
  • Ability to attend events and meetings outside of standard working hours; 
  • Excellent computer skills: MS Office; knowledge of Salesforce CRM a plus;
  • Excellent knowledge and extensive experience using social media;
  • Ability to connect with young adults;
  • Understanding of and passion for the mission of the Jewish Federation;
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of related experience are required.  

 

Main job responsibilities include:

Direct Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), the public affairs arm of the Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando. Work closely with a volunteer committee on direction and strategy for JCRC. Build and maintain relationships with other faith and ethnic communities. Maintain relationships within Central Florida Jewish community organizations and synagogues. Establish and maintain relationships with schools, media, government and elected officials. Coordinate legislative advocacy work. Coordinate responses to incidents of anti-Semitism or anti-Israel bias. Create and direct community educational programming.

Direct Jerome J. Bornstein Leadership Development Program, a year-long program for cultivating leadership for the Central Florida Jewish community. Work closely with volunteer leadership to identify, recruit and interview applicants. Design and coordinate programming. Recruit experts to present on various topics. Steward relationships with program graduates and participants. Work to match participants with local agencies and synagogues for volunteer placement.

Direct Our Jewish Orlando, a program geared toward young professionals for social networking, education and leadership development. Identify and recruit a volunteer committee and work with volunteers to design and implement targeted programming for this age group. Steward individual relationships with participants for future leadership development.

Staff professional affinity groups, including Jewish Business Network, Maimonides Society (medical), and Cardozo Society (legal). Work with volunteers and committees to design and implement programming, attract new members and raise funds for Federation through networking events, continuing education programs and other opportunities.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

Work with the Executive Director and other staff to plan and implement fundraising initiatives and other events. Assist Executive Director with various aspects of fundraising and development. Other responsibilities as assigned by Executive Director.
