Sharing the love and giving thanks

As I wrote last week, June is a very busy month at Federation as we make the final push to wrap up our Annual Campaign.

This year, we are doing even more. Yes, we are still making that final campaign push, but we also want to take this opportunity to say "thank you" to the Jewish agencies in Greater Orlando and to all of the people who are the backbone of our local Jewish community.

So on Monday, we will launch Federation's Summer of Love, a series of events that we hope will bring our community even closer as we celebrate Jewish life in Orlando!

We're starting off early - first thing Monday morning - when Federation staff will be delivering fresh doughnuts to the offices of our local Jewish agencies. The staff members at our agencies work incredibly hard all year long to fulfill their respective missions, and thousands of Jews and non-Jews in our community reap the benefits every day. Please take a moment out of your day on Monday to send an email, make a phone call or even stop by one of the agencies to say "thank you."

On Monday evening, Federation's Cardozo Legal Society is holding a Happy Hour at the Bear and Peacock Brewstillery in Winter Park. Several young attorneys who graduated the Bornstein Leadership Development Program last year have taken on the task of revitalizing the Cardozo Society, and this event is a kickoff of that effort. It's heartening to see young people stepping up and taking on leadership roles. Legal professionals, we look forward to seeing you there - and you still have time to RSVP. Click here for the details.

There's much more in store next week. If you stop by the Maitland Jewish Community Campus on Tuesday afternoon, be sure to pick up a complimentary Chloe's fruit pop. Federation staff will be stationed at the main entrance with the cool treats from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Later in the week, we have two community mitzvahs planned: an Our Jewish Orlando sunset lake cleanup on Thursday and a PJ Library Orlando/Shalom Families Tikkun Olam park cleanup for the little ones on Sunday.

You can read about everything we have planned by visiting our Summer of Love web page, www.jfgo.org/love (and be sure to visit it throughout the summer, because there's more to come).

Of course, Federation is able to perform these mitzvahs, large and small, thanks to the generosity of our Annual Campaign supporters. If you haven't already done so, please Share the Love and make your gift today. Your generosity will be felt here at home, in Israel and around the world.

And let me take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to everyone whose generosity has helped Federation to fulfill our mission. You are the lifeblood of Federation, and we are grateful every day for your support!

Thank you and Shabbat Shalom,
